GIBS is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India for technical programmes and Bar Council of India for Law programmes.

About the seminar

Gitarattan International Business School (GIBS) is organising a National Law Seminar on EVOLUTION OF PERSONAL LAWS IN INDIA: NOW AND THEN on 17th August 2019 (Saturday).
Indian legal system carries many unique components and one of them is Personal Law. India comprises of a multicultural society and different groups with separate personal laws. The personal laws tell the stories about the evolution of culture, behaviour, beliefs and values that are social constructs which shape the views of the people about their antecedents and
roots.
In India, such social constructs have received legal recognition. With the passage of time, the Indian society has also accepted western culture which led to the introduction of various new trends like Live-in relationship, same-sex marriage etc. leading to new directions and new voices in personal laws of India.
This seminar has an aim to focus on status and policy on personal laws in India. It will also explore the emerging dimensions and tensions, taking the participants towards already existing and upcoming remedies and reforms in family law.

Eligibility

Participation is open to Lawyers, Academicians, Socio-legal researchers and Law students. In order to ensure enriched deliberations and focused discussion, experts will be invited to the programme to share their rich field experience with the participants.

Registration Fee

  1. Advocates: Rs. 1000/-
  2. Academicians/Faculty Members/Research Scholars: Rs. 500/-
  3. Students: Rs. 300/-

Reporting Time for Participants on 17th August 2019: 0900 A.M
Note: Registration fee includes – Tea, Snacks, Lunch & Programme Kit. Outstation participants have to make their own boarding and lodging arrangements. However, assistance will be provided on request to avail these facilities in the vicinity of the Institute.
All Participants shall be awarded “Certificate of Participation”.
