About the Fellowship
Sanskriti Pratishthan selects eminent artists for the Pt Vasant Thakar Memorial Fellowship in Indian Classical Music – well established and highly talented classical music artists, who are richly deserving of a wider recognition as both gurus and performers.
The Guru, if he or she wishes, may choose further to use the Fellowship amount to encourage his/her disciples to hone their skills. The scheme will be managed by the Sanskriti Pratishthan, which has been giving similar awards and fellowships for arts, performing arts, culture, media and social activism over the past 30 years.
The objective of the Fellowship is to recognize and provide a platform to excellent but lesser known artists and to bring them to larger audiences.
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to Indian Nationals from any genre of Indian Classical Music (Vocal or Instrumental).
Duration of Fellowship
The duration of the fellowship will be 10 months followed by a performance in Delhi.
Amount of Fellowship
The grant of Rs. 1,00,000 will be given in two installments. The first installment of Rs 50,000/- will be given at the commencement of the fellowship programme and a short mid-term progress report will be required. The second installment will be given after the submission of complete project report when the fellow may be requested to give a recital.
Application Procedure & Guidelines
- All candidates should mail their CV and a short synopsis of their project proposal to Sanskriti Head Office.
- The application should bear the title ‘Sanskriti-Pt Vasant Thakar Memorial Fellowship’ on the envelope when sent by post and in subject line if sent through email on Pt vasant Thakar Memorial Fellowship at fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org.
- The applicant will have to sign an agreement with Sanskriti Pratishthan pertaining to a regular flow of work during the Fellowship period.
- The candidate should not be holding another Fellowship or working on any other project at the same time.
