Internship Opportunity @ World Wide Fund India: Apply by Oct 31

About:

World Wide Fund (WWF)-India has partnered with the Global Tiger Forum and Wildlife Institute of India to assess the status of tiger habitats across the Himalaya, (currently in the states of Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh in India).

This project is called the ‘High Altitude Tigers Project’ and we are looking for motivated interns with a passion for wildlife biology and high-altitude ecosystems to join this project to conduct field surveys.

Duration of Internship: 6 Months from the starting date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for implementing interview/ questionnaire surveys in the field areas, in accordance with the project plans.
  • Will be required to carry out sign surveys and deploy camera trap, monitor and download camera trap data as and when required.
  • Will be responsible for managing and analyzing field data as and when required.
  • Liaise with other team members, state forest departments and WWF Project Officer for implementing surveys and managing field data.
  • Contribute to other program activities of WWF-India, as and when required.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree preferably in Wildlife Science, Zoology, Geography or a related A degree or diploma (bachelor’s or higher) in wildlife science, zoology, ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, geography, social science or allied disciplines.
  • Prior experience in conducting questionnaire surveys and wildlife surveys (exceptions will be considered).
  • Knowledge and experience of software: MS Office, SPSS, Q GIS and/or Arc GIS.
  • Willingness to work in remote forest areas and undertake physically strenuous fieldwork.
  • Good command over English and Hindi.
