Registrations are open and invited for the Google Developer Students Clubs Solution Challenge 2022.
About the Challenge
The Google Developer Student Clubs Solution Challenge is a skill contest where participants (students) must develop a solution that solves and addresses one or more of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals using one or more Google products or platforms.
They must also submit a video to YouTube (no more than 120 seconds in length) that demonstrates how a user can utilize the solution.
The Contest begins at 12:00:00 A.M. Pacific Time (PT) Zone in the United States on January 11, 2022 and ends at 11:59:59 P.M. PT on May 31, 2022.

Eligibility
To be eligible to enter the Contest, you must be:
(1) a student above the age of majority in the country, state, province, or jurisdiction of residence (or at least twenty years old in Taiwan) at the time of entry;
(2) not a resident of Brazil, Quebec, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Syria, or North Korea or;
(3) not a person or entity under U.S. export controls or sanctions;
(4) be a part of a Google Developer Student Club community (the team submitting an entry must also have at least one person that is part of a Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) in their own university or college),
(5) have access to the Internet as of January 11, 2022. Contest is void in Brazil, Quebec, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and where prohibited by law.
Employees, interns, contractors, and official office-holders of Google, UNICEF, the United Nations, and their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, advertising and promotion agencies, representatives, and agents (“Contest Entities”), and members of the Contest Entities and their immediate families (parents, siblings, children, spouses, and life partners of each, regardless of where they live) and members of the households (whether related or not) of such employees, officers and directors are ineligible to participate in this Contest.
Judging
Each entry will be judged by a panel of experts who are employees of Sponsor and/or are registered members of the Google Developer Expert program and/or are employees of UNICEF and/or United Nations (“Judges”).
- Round 1 Submission: Participants submit their entries between March 15, 2022, to March 31, 2022.
- Round 1 Judging: From approximately April 1, 2022 to April 30, 2022, each Entry will be evaluated by the Judges based on the judging criteria below.
- Top 50 Entries: Out of all the initial entries from round 1, Judges will select the top 50 entries. The teams that submitted these top 50 entries will be offered the opportunity to undergo mentoring with experts to improve their solution before submitting their Entry again for the Round 2 evaluation.
- Round 2 Submission: Participants from the top 50 entries resubmit their entries between May 15, 2022 to May 31, 2022.
- Round 2 Judging: From approximately June 1, 2022 to June 15, 2022, each Round 2 Submission entry will be reevaluated by the Judges based on the judging criteria below.
- Top 10 Entries: Out of all the Round 2 Submission entries, Judges will select the top 10 potential winners based on the judging criteria below. The top 10 potential winners will get a chance to showcase their entries during the virtual 2022 Solution Challenge Demo Day livestream.
- Top 3 Entries: During the livestream event, Judges will select the official top 3 potential winners for the 2022 Solution Challenge based on the judging criteria below as applied to the entries presented at the 2022 Solution Challenge Demo Day livestream.
Prizes
- Top 50 Entries: Will receive branded T-shirts (ARV: $15). 1 per student on each qualifying team. All qualifying teams will receive a Certificate.
- Top 10 Entries (maximum 4 participants per Entry): will be awarded an opportunity to showcase their entries to Googlers and developers all around the world during the virtual 2022 Solution Challenge Demo Day, Virtual mentorship from Googlers and GDEs, including Swag box (with Branded items: T-shirt, stickers, backpack, etc.; ARV: $250).
Contest Finalists (maximum 4 participants per Entry): Each individual from the additional 7 recognized teams will receive a Cash Prize of $1,000 per student. Winnings for each qualifying team will not exceed $4,000. - Top 3 Contest Winners (maximum 4 participants per Entry): Each individual from the top 3 winning teams will receive a Cash Prize of $3,000. Winnings for each qualifying team will not exceed $12,000.
