About the Programme

The Department of Humanities and Sciences from Bharat Institute of Engineering and Technology is organizing an online Faculty Development Programme on “Soft Skills: Mentoring Skills and Emotional Intelligence in Education.” The programme will be offered though online platform Zoom with lectures delivering by eminent experts from premier institutions and industries.

The program intends to empower the faculty members of educational institutions and aspiring teachers. The ongoing pandemic has not only caused physical stress, but also mental distress due to the confinement rules and the innate fear of acquiring COVID-19.

The abstention from real-time interactions with peers due to the ongoing technology-enabled teaching also induces stress in the students as well as the faculty members due to decreased opportunities in the thought-exchange process.

Therefore, it is being considered important by the experts to equip the faculty members with the expertise of handling this new normal with the stress-management, micro- counselling and mentorship skills in order to regulate the anxiety levels and emotional imbalances of the student community and to maintain a healthy teaching-learning environment.

The program focuses on enriching the emotional intelligence and mental-health related skills of the faculty members through well-designed guest lectures and activities.

The programme is exclusively open to the teachers of Schools, Intermediate Colleges, Engineering colleges, MCA colleges and other allied disciplines. Industry and other working professionals are also eligible.
