The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Andhra Pradesh is organizing an Online Faculty Development Program on Recent Advances in Materials Characterization Techniques from October 19 to 23, 2020.
National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2015 in the state of Andhra Pradesh, located at Tadepalligudem, West Godavari District.. The Institute started functioning from its permanent campus, which is spread over 178 acres. The institute offers B.Tech., M.Tech., M.S. (by Research) programmes in various engineering disciplines and Ph D. programme in Engineering, School of Sciences and School of Humanities and Management.
FDP Objectives
The objective of this programme on “Recent Advances in Materials Characterization Techniques” is to enable early stage researchers, young faculty, as well as established faculty members, to gain exposure to insightful developments taking place in the dynamic world of material characterizations.
It will be extremely beneficial for the participants from diverse backgrounds such as metallurgy, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics and chemistry alike, owing to the versatility of the advanced characterization methods that they come across in the scientific world.

The speakers include highly qualified academicians and established senior scientists, who have profound knowledge in diverse material characterizations. The following techniques will be addressed in this FDP:

- Transmission Electron Microscopy
- Electron Backscatter Diffraction
- Precession Electron Diffraction
- Atom Probe Tomography
- Nano-Indentation and micromechanics
- X-Ray Diffraction
- Auger electron spectroscopy
Who can Attend?
Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Industry Participants are invited to apply. The entry is restricted to 200 participants. Participants who successfully complete the registration will be given preference as first-come first-served basis and the same will be acknowledged through email. Registration will be confirmed only after receiving the payment. E-certificates will be issued to the participants who attend all the sessions.

The non-refundable registration fee is Rs. 300/- for Faculty Members/ Industry Participants and Rs. 200/- for Research Scholars.
