The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing Applications (IIRS) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are together organizing an Online Course on Remote Sensing of Land Degradation from December 1 to 7, 2020.
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Govt. of India is a premier Training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and GNSS Technology for Natural Resources, Environmental, and Disaster Management.
Formerly known as the Indian Photo interpretation Institute (IPI), founded in 1966, the Institute boasts to be the first of its kind in entire South-East Asia.

- An overview of Remote Sensing of Land Degradation
- Remote Sensing of Soil Erosion
- Remote Sensing of Salt-affected Soils: Optical & Microwave
- Remote Sensing of Vegetal Degradation and Desertification
- Mitigating Land Degradation and Land Restoration
Course study materials like lecture slides, video-recorded lectures, open-source software & handouts of demonstrations, etc. will be made available through e-class.

Who can Attend?
This course is designed for professionals from Central/ State Govt./ state watershed directorates/ Private Organizations/ NGO engaged in land degradation mapping as well as management and planning/ students & researchers aligned or engaged in various aspects of land management, mitigating degradation as well as land restoration.
The course participants have to be duly sponsored by their university/ institution and application should be forwarded through coordinators from respective Organisations/ Centres. Users attending programs under CEC-UGC / CIET/ other networks can also participate. Institutions on high-speed National Knowledge Network (NKN) can also participate.

The certificate will be awarded to Working Professionals and Students: Based on 70% attendance and 40% in the online examination. There is a limited number of seats and registration will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
