The Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand & Department of Physics, SLIET Longowal is organizing an Online Course on Recent Advances in Optical & Magnetic Materials from December 14 to 18, 2020.

National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand is amongst the emerging NITs, located in Srinagar Garhwal. It was established in 2009 under the Act of Parliament of India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and designated with the status of “Institute of National Importance”. The Institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech in Engineering branches, and Ph.D. courses in Engineering and Science disciplines.

Course Objectives

The STC will focus on providing in-depth knowledge on recent advances in the Optical and Magnetic Materials, their fundamentals, and applications in the advancement of Science and Technology. The course will comprise a series of Lectures. These activities will provide the participants an exposure to the state-of-the-art techniques used worldwide in the area of Optical and Magnetic Materials.

This will also provide a platform for the participants to interact with the leading scientists and technologists and benefit from their vast experience in the area. This course will also be very beneficial and important for Faculty members, Professionals, Ph.D. students, Research Scientist, MTech and MSc students who are working in the area of Optical and Magnetic Materials and their related fields.

Topics

This short term course will cover the following topics (but not limited to):

  • Structural Analysis by X-ray diffraction.
  • Fluorescence Spectroscopy.
  • Optical Materials, Fundamentals, and potential device applications.
  • Magnetism and Spintronics.
  • Magnetic Materials, Fundamentals, and potential device applications.
  • Photovoltaics.
  • Surface Characterization Techniques.

The M.Sc/ M.Tech/ Ph.D. students, faculty members, Research Scientists, and Professionals working in the area of Optical and Magnetic materials and their applications are welcome to attend the course.

Experts from NITs/ IITs/ Reputed Organizations/ Research Laboratories will give insights on various topics and themes of the STC.
